Add baking powder and flour 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition. The dough will be very stiff. It may be necessary to blend the last flour in by hand. DO NOT chill dough.

Dip cookie cutters in flour before each use. Place cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet with a spatula dipped in flour. Bake 6 to 7 minutes on top rack of oven until cookies are light brown. Remove cookies from sheet immediately after taking from oven.

For icing in large mixing bowl, cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add almond flavoring. Gradually add sugar 1 cup at a time, beating well on medium speed.
