Unstuffed cabbage



  • lean ground beef - 1 lb
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • can crushed tomatoes - 1 item
  • light brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • white vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp

How to make unstuffed cabbage:

Preparation Time: 5 minutes. Cooking Time: 25 minutes.

Crumble beef in 4 to 5-quart Dutch oven. Add onions and cook over medium heat (5 to 6 minutes) stirring often until beef is browned. Quarter and core cabbage. Cut crosswise in 1-inch wide strips. You should have 8 cups. Add to meat mixture. Cover and cook (5 to 7 minutes) on medium heat stirring occasionally until cabbage wilts. Stir in tomato, sugar, vinegar and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 10 minutes or until cabbage is done. Serve over rice or noodles. Serves 4.
