Ingredients/Components
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- pinch of nutmeg - 1 item
- cubed turnips - 6 c
- fine crumbs - 1/2 c
How to make turnip puff:
Cook turnips until tender. Drain and mash. Add 2 tablespoons butter and eggs. Beat well. (This much can be done the day ahead.) Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Stir. Butter a casserole dish and put in mixture. Combine crumbs and 2 tablespoons butter. Sprinkle on top. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until light brown on top. Serves 6.
