Tuna loaf
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- vegetable oil
- egg - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- can tuna - 1 oz
- onion, diced - 1/4 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 1 item
- toasted bread crumbs - 4 Tbsp
- wheat germ optional - 1 2
How to make tuna loaf:
White Sauce:2 Tbsp. vegetable oil2 Tbsp. flour1 c. milk salt to taste Preheat oven to 350°. Put casserole with butter in the oven. Mash the tuna fish in a bowl and add the egg.In a separate pan, blend the oil and flour. Add the milk and salt to make a white sauce. Stir and cook until thickened. Add the white sauce to the fish and egg mixture. Mix in the onion, parsley, salt and pepper. Add the 3 tablespoons of milk, bread crumbs and wheat germ.
Place in the hot casserole with the melted butter. Bake 30 minutes until loaf rises and browns.
A smaller loaf can be made with 6 ounces tuna and half the white sauce.
