Travis house oysters
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 3/4 c
- paprika
- clove garlic, minced - 1/2 item
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tsp
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- fresh lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
- medium green pepper, chopped - 1/2 item
- oysters - 1 qt
- cracker crumbs Ritz or saltines - 1/4 c
How to make travis house oysters:
Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a 2-quart shallow casserole or 6 to 8 individual casseroles.Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove from heat. Add flour and stir until smooth. Return to heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes or until lightly golden.
Add paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic, onion and green pepper. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add oysters and liquor, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well. Put in casserole, sprinkle with crumbs and bake for 20 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
