  • milk - 2/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder
  • margarine - 1/4 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • basil - 1/2 tsp
  • finely chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • fresh parsley
  • finely chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • finely chopped celery - 1/4 c
  • can tomatoes with juice, cut up - 1 oz

How to make tomato dumplings:

Dumplings:1 Tbsp. fresh parsley1 c. flour1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1/2 tsp. salt1 Tbsp. margarine2/3 c. milk In a medium skillet, saute onion, pepper and celery in margarine until tender. Add the rest of the ingredients (except dumplings). Cover and simmer 5 to 10 minutes.

Dumplings: Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in margarine. Add parsley and milk. Stir just until mixed.

Drop dumplings by tablespoonful into hot liquid. Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes or until done. Discard bay leaf. Serve immediately.
