  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • tender beef steak

How to make toad in the hole:

Cut steak in 1-inch cubes; season with salt and pepper. Place in a shallow baking dish, which has been well-greased. Spread beef cubes apart so that batter will form between them. Make a batter of remaining ingredients and pour over cubes, allowing some to leave their "heads" out. Bake in a hot oven at 400° to 450° for 30 to 40 minutes.
