Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • milk - 1 c
  • vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • baking powder
  • baking soda
  • vegetable oil - 1/2 c
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • all-purpose flour
  • powdered sugar - 1 c
  • Combine dry ingredients in large bowl

How to make the perfect chocolate cake:

Heat oven to 350°. Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into two 9-inch round greased and floured pans or one 13 x 9-inch rectangle pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool completely. Remove from pan(s) and frost.The Perfect Chocolate Frosting:1 stick butter or margarine2/3 c. Hershey's cocoa1 c. powdered sugar1/3 c. milk1 tsp. vanilla extract Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating on medium speed to spreading consistency. Add more milk, if needed. Add vanilla.
