Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- sticks margarine - 2 item
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- box confectioners sugar - 1/2 item
- beaten eggs - 2 item
- buttermilk * - 1/2 c
- Put sugar, flour and salt in bowl
How to make texas sheet cake:
*Hint: For buttermilk, substitute 1/2 cup milk plus 1 teaspoon vinegar.Put sugar, flour and salt in bowl. Put margarine, water and cocoa in saucepan on low heat. Bring to a boil and add to sugar, flour and salt mixture. Beat until smooth.
Beat eggs, buttermilk, soda, vanilla and vinegar, then add to other ingredients. Pour into a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch cookie sheet. (Cake will be thin.) Ice while hot.Icing:1/2 stick margarine2 Tbsp. cocoa3 Tbsp. milk1/2 box confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla Mix margarine and cocoa with milk which has been brought to a boil. Add confectioners sugar and vanilla. After spreading on cake, sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
