  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • water
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • onion, chopped - 1 item
  • tomato juice - 1 c
  • tomato sauce - 1/2 c
  • green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • rice uncooked

How to make texas rice:

Melt butter in 3-quart saucepan over moderate heat. Add the onion and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes or until soft. Stir in rice, green pepper, chili powder, oregano, tomato juice and tomato sauce. Then add water and salt. Stir once; cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed.
