  • water - 2 c
  • oil - 1/4 c
  • chili powder - 3 tsp
  • ketchup - 1/4 c
  • large onions, chopped - 2 item
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • ground cumin - 1 tsp
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • crushed red pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • green peppers, chopped - 2 item
  • garlic cloves, chopped - 3 item
  • cans chopped tomatoes - 2 oz
  • flank steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes - 3 4

How to make texas chili:

In a large Dutch oven (cast-iron is best) on medium-high heat, brown steak in oil quickly on both sides until well browned. Remove steak, turn stove to medium. Add onions, green pepper and garlic. Cook 2 minutes. Add browned steak to onions and peppers
