Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • sifted plain flour

How to make tea cakes:

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla, milk and dry ingredients. Blend well. Place dough on a slightly floured board. Sprinkle a little flour over the dough and roll to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter. Place on cookie sheet and bake in a moderate oven at 350° for about 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
