Ingredients/Components
- hamburg - 1 lb
- chopped onion - 1 c
- chopped green pepper - 1 c
- cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
- can whole kernel corn, drained - 1 oz
- chopped ripe olives - 1/2 c
- garlic powder - 1 clove
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- chili powder - 2 3
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- Drain
- water - 2 c
How to make tamale pie:
Cook meat, onion and green pepper until meat is done. Drain. Add sauce, corn, olives and seasonings. Simmer 25 minutes. Add cheese, 6 ounces of sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded; stir until melted. Turn into a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.Topping:3/4 c. cornmeal1/2 tsp. salt2 c. water Combine ingredients. Add 1 tablespoon butter. Spoon over meat mixture. Bake at 375° for 40 minutes.
