Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 1 1/4
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • lean ground beef - 2 lb
  • cans stewed tomatoes - 3 1/2
  • small chopped onion - 1 item
  • cans chopped green chilies - 3 oz
  • can hominy, drained - 1 1/2
  • can pinto beans, rinsed and drained - 1 to
  • can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained - 1 to
  • shredded cheese optional - 1 item
  • can lima beans, rinsed and drained - 1 oz
  • tortilla chips optional - 1 item

How to make taco soup:

In a large Dutch oven, brown beef and onion. Drain any fat. Add all remaining ingredients, except last two. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes or longer. Top with cheese and serve with chips if desired.
