Swiss steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- medium onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, finely chopped - 1/2 item
- can mushroom pieces - 1 oz
- round steak, cut 1-inch thick - 2 lb
- tomato canned or fresh - 1 c
How to make swiss steak:
Combine flour with salt and pepper and pound into meat. In preheated skillet at 325°, melt shortening. Brown meat on both sides. Add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to 225°. Cook, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve with vegetable gravy. Makes 6 servings.Recipe categories: American, Main dish, North american.
