Swiss steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 6 Tbsp
- water - 3/4 c
- shortening - 6 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chopped carrots - 1/2 c
- medium onions - 4 item
- green pepper - 1 item
- stewed tomatoes - 3/4 c
- round steak - 1 item
- yellow pepper - 1 item
How to make swiss steak:
Combine flour, salt and pepper; run into both sides of steak. Preheat skillet; add half of shortening, then add onions (sliced). Brown lightly and remove from skillet. Add remaining shortening. Brown steak on both sides. Reduce heat, add carrots, celery, garlic, tomatoes and water. Cover, simmer 1 hour. Cut pepper into slices. Add onions and pepper to meat.
