Swiss steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1 tsp
- medium onion - 1 item
- chopped tomatoes - 1 can
- boneless round steak - 1 lb
How to make swiss steak:
Trim fat off of meat and cut into serving size pieces. Salt and pepper and dredge in flour. Pound flour into meat with a mallet or saucer. Fry in cooking oil browning on both sides. Remove form heat and drain off excess fat. Add tomatoes and onions to frying pan and bring to a boil. Add meat back to pan, cover and simmer about 1 hour until meat is fork tender.Recipe categories: American, Main dish, North american.
