Sweetheart salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- cold water - 1/2 c
- heavy cream - 1 c
- can crushed pineapple - 1 to
- chopped maraschino cherries - 1 c
- lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- envelopes unflavored gelatin - 2 item
- maraschino cherry juice
How to make sweetheart salad:
In a medium saucepan, soften gelatin in cold water. Add undrained crushed pineapple. Cook and stir until mixture starts to boil. Reduce heat; continue to cook for one minute. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar and lemon juice. Cool.Stir together the cream cheese, cherries and cherry juice. Gradually stir in cooled pineapple mixture. Beat heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fold into partially set jello mixture. Pour into 6 or 7-cup mold. Chill for 4 hours or pour into individual covered cups and freeze like ice cream.
