Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- sweet potatoes - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- cocoa - 5 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- Add eggs
- Crisco, creamed - 1 c
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make sweet potato cake:
Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add eggs. Add sweet potatoes. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into three greased and floured cake pans. (Note: Can line pans with wax paper.) Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool and ice with Fluffy Egg White Icing.Fluffy Egg White Icing:3 egg whites1 c. Crisco, creamed1 box powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Beat egg whites until stiff. Add Crisco and mix thoroughly.
