Ingredients/Components
- egg - 1 item
- medium onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- corn starch - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- lean ground beef or venison - 1 lb
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- pineapple chunks, undrained
- medium green peppers, julienne - 2 item
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cider vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- cold water - 1/3 c
How to make sweet 'n' sour meatballs:
Sauce:1 can (20 oz.) pineapple chunks, undrained2 medium green peppers, julienne1/2 c. sugar3 Tbsp. cider vinegar1 Tbsp. vegetable oil1 Tbsp. soy sauce3 Tbsp. cornstarch1/3 c. cold water In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1-in. balls. In a large skillet, brown meatballs in oil, turning often. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside; drain.To skillet, add the pineapple, green peppers, sugar, vinegar, oil and soy sauce. Cover and simmer until tender, about 5 minutes. Return meatballs to skillet; simmer until meat is no longer pink. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir into skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Yield: about 3 dozen.
