Sweet cucumber pickles
Ingredients/Components
- vinegar
- alum - 1 tsp
- pickling spices - 6 Tbsp
- cucumbers - 1 gal
- coarse salt fine salt will not work - 2 Tbsp
How to make sweet cucumber pickles:
Wash cucumbers; pack in gallon jar. Add salt, spices and alum. Cover with vinegar. Cover the lid of jar with waxed paper. Let set for 6 weeks. Take out of vinegar (throw the vinegar away). Slice the cucumbers and to 1 pint of pickles add 1 cup of sugar. Pack pickles back in gallon jar and seal.
