Sweet-and-sour meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- vinegar - 1/3 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- hamburger - 1 lb
- finely chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
- pineapple chunks - 1 can
- dry bread crumbs - 1/2 c
- small green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until brown, about 20 minutes
How to make sweet-and-sour meatballs:
Mix ingredients for meatballs; shape into twenty (1 1/2-inch) balls. Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until brown, about 20 minutes. Or cook in ungreased oblong pan, in 400° oven until lightly brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Drain fat.Sauce:1/2 c. packed brown sugar1 Tbsp. cornstarch1 can (13 1/4 oz.) pineapple chunks1/3 c. vinegar1 Tbsp. soy sauce1 small green pepper, chopped Mix brown sugar and cornstarch in skillet. Stir in pineapple (with juice), vinegar and soy sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly; reduce heat. Add meatballs. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Stir in green pepper.
