Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • evaporated milk - 1/2 c
  • water - 1/3 c
  • vinegar - 2 tsp
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 4 tsp
  • catsup - 2/3 c
  • melted shortening - 3 tsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • uncooked oatmeal - 1/2 c

How to make sweet-and-sour meatballs:

Combine beef, oats, milk, onion, pepper and salt. Mix well. Shape into about 30 small balls. Brown in hot shortening; drain. Combine catsup, Worcestershire, vinegar, sugar and water; mix well. Pour sauce over meatballs. Simmer 30 minutes over low. Heat until ready to serve.
