  • brown sugar - 1/3 c
  • vinegar - 1/3 c
  • shortening - 1 Tbsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • green peppers - 2/3 c
  • onions - 1/2 c
  • cans stewed tomatoes - 2 item
  • stew beef - 2 lb

How to make sweet and sour beef:

Brown stew beef in shortening in pot. Add all ingredients except green peppers. Simmer covered 2 hours. Last 1/2 hour before done add green peppers. Serve with brown rice or mashed potato.
