Swedish rye bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- shortening
- molasses - 1/4 c
- rye flour - 3 c
- lukewarm water - 3 c
- envelope yeast - 1 item
- white flour as needed - 1 item
How to make swedish rye bread:
Mix together the first five ingredients; let it rise until double in size. Add salt and shortening; mix together and add enough white flour to make a soft dough (not sticky or too stiff). Let rise until double in bulk. Put in two loaf pans; let rise until almost double. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes to one hour.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Swedish.
