Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • brown sugar - 2 tsp
  • water - 1/3 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • oleo - 1 item
  • allspice - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • caraway seed - 4 Tbsp
  • onion, finely chopped - 4 Tbsp
  • beef bouillon - 2 c
  • bread crumbs fine, dry - 1 c
  • chuck, finely ground - 2 lb

How to make swedish meatballs:

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, except flour, water and beef bouillon; mix well. Use teaspoon to form balls and fry in oleo in heavy skillet until evenly brown. Remove from pan.

Combine flour with water and add to frying skillet with beef bouillon, stirring constantly until thickened. Return meatballs to skillet. Cover; cook slowly for 20 minutes. Transfer to chafing dish and serve warm.
