Swedish meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- water - 3/4 c
- egg - 1 item
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onions - 1/4 c
- ground beef - 1 lb
- dry bread crumbs - 3/4 c
- half and half cream - 1 c
- ground pork - 1/2 lb
- beef base or beef bouillon - 1 tsp
How to make swedish meatballs:
Mix beef, pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, nutmeg and pepper. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place meatballs on ungreased 10 x 15 x 1-inch jelly roll pan. Bake uncovered in preheated 350° oven for about 20 minutes. Remove meatballs; keep warm. Place 3 tablespoons pan drippings in saucepan; stir in flour. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in water, half and half and beef base or bouillon. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
