sugar - 2 c
eggs - 3 item
vanilla - 1 Tbsp
milk - 1/4 c
flour - 4 c
baking powder - 1 tsp
baking soda - 1 tsp
shortening - 1 c
powdered sugar - 1 c
margarine - 3 Tbsp
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk
milk sweet, sour, buttermilk or canned milk - 1 c
nuts, raisins or chocolate chips, if desired - 1 item

How to make sugar cookies:

Cream or mix well shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Mix well. Drop on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 12 minutes. This is a soft cookie. Ice, if desired.Icing:1/2 c. sugar1/4 c. milk
