Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 2 c
  • powdered sugar - 1 c
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp

How to make sugar cookies:

Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add remaining ingredients. Form small balls and push down flat with bottom of glass, dipped in water. Sprinkle with sugar and bake at 350° for 5 to 7 minutes.

Eliminating the rolling on a floured surface keeps the cookies flaky and tender, and no mess!
