Ingredients/Components

  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • sugar - 1 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • molasses - 1/4 c
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • cloves - 3/4 tsp
  • ginger - 3/4 tsp

How to make sugar and spice cookies:

Mix first 4 ingredients. Then sift together rest of ingredients and stir into first mixture. Form balls the size of walnuts. Place about 2-inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375°. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
