Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- freshly ground pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chicken broth
- chopped parsley - 1/2 c
- onion
- leaf sage - 3 Tbsp
- bags Pepperidge Farm dressing mix Blue bag or 35 to 40 slices of bread, cubed - 2 item
- celery with tops - 3 c
- ground round sometimes I use ground sausage or half sausage and half ground round - 1 lb
- sliced Italian chestnuts - 1/2 c
How to make stuffing:
Melt butter in a large skillet. Saute onion and celery until tender, about 15 minutes. Add to bread with salt, pepper and sage.Beat eggs lightly in small bowl. Stir in stuffing. Add ground round, breaking up into pieces. Add sliced chestnuts. Add enough of the chicken broth to make a moist mixture.
Stuff turkey cavity lightly. Spoon any extra stuffing into buttered casserole. Spoon a little chicken broth over top and bake for 1/2 hour at 350°.
