Stuffed mushrooms
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 4 tsp
- pepper - 1 tsp
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
- Italian bread crumbs - 1/3 c
- large shallots, minced - 2 item
- to 18 large mushrooms - 12 item
- slice bacon, minced - 1 item
- to 3 slices bacon, cut in squares - 2 item
How to make stuffed mushrooms:
Cut off stems and scoop out mushrooms; mince, reserving caps. Saute minced bacon in skillet until crisp. Drain, reserving 1 tablespoon bacon fat. Add butter to bacon and bacon fat. Saute minced shallots and garlic until soft. Add minced mushrooms and saute until liquid is almost absorbed. Sprinkle on bread crumbs and thoroughly mix. Blend in milk. Salt and pepper to taste. Fill mushroom caps with mixture and top each with bacon square to cover. Use all of the mixture. Mushrooms will be heaped very high. Broil until bacon is crisp and browned.
