Strawberry nut bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- sour cream - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- margarine - 1 c
- cream of tartar - 1 tsp
- lemon extract - 1/4 tsp
- broken walnuts - 1 c
- strawberry jam - 1 c
How to make strawberry nut bread:
In mixing bowl cream margarine, sugar, vanilla and lemon extract until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, salt, cream of tartar and soda. Combine jam and sour cream. Add jam mixture alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beating until well combined. Stir in nuts. Divide among five greased and floured 4 1/2 x 2 3/4 x 2 1/4-inch loaf pans. Bake in 350° oven for 50 to 55 minutes or until done. Cool 10 minutes in pans; remove and cool completely on wire racks.Hint: When omitting nuts from some of the loaves, try placing a round toothpick in the corner of the greased and floured pan. It will leave a small indentation only you will notice. Place nuts next to pan to remind you (this is the hard part) to add the nuts to the remainder of the batter before pouring. These sell well at the boutique year after year.
