Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- cream of tartar - 1 tsp
- lemon extract - 1/4 tsp
- broken walnuts - 1/2 c
- strawberry jam
- cultured sour cream - 1/2 c
- strawberry jam freezer jam works well - 1 c
How to make strawberry nut bread:
Strawberry Spread:2 Tbsp. strawberry jam1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened Cream the butter, sugar, vanilla and lemon extract together in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, sift together the flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda; set aside. In small bowl, combine jam and sour cream. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with jam-sour cream. Beat until well combined. Stir in nuts. Divide batter among 9 greased and floured 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes or until wooden pick tests clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes; remove from pans to cooling rack.Make spread by combining ingredients and refrigerating until serving time. Yields 9 loaves.
