Stewed okra and tomatoes
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- sliced okra - 2 c
- cooked or canned tomatoes - 2 c
- bacon drippings or other fat - 2 Tbsp
How to make stewed okra and tomatoes:
Melt fat in frying pan. Brown onion and okra slightly, stirring as it cooks. Add tomatoes and salt. Cook over moderate heat until vegetables are tender and mixture is thick, about 20 minutes.
