Steamed persimmon pudding
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- butter
- cornstarch
- water - 1 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- raisins - 1 c
- melted shortening - 1/3 c
- brandy - 1/4 c
- persimmon pulp - 1 c
How to make steamed persimmon pudding:
Hot Sauce:1/4 c. butter3/4 c. sugar2 tsp. vanilla1 c. water2 1/4 tsp. cornstarch1/4 c. brandy Sift dry ingredients. Add pulp, shortening, milk, raisins and nuts. Mix well. Steam 1 1/2 to 2 hours in 2 well buttered one pound coffee cans. Cover cans with foil. Place in large pot containing water to come up to 1/3 to 1/2 of cans. Cover and heat to simmering. Serve hot with sauce.Sauce: Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add water, vanilla and butter. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly. When sauce reaches boiling, remove from heat and add brandy. Stir well and serve hot over hot pudding.
