- water - 1-1/2 c
- milk - 2 c
- cornmeal - 1-1/2 c
- salt - 1-1/4 tsp
- sugar - 1-1/2 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- eggs - 5 item
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
How to make spoon bread:
Preheat oven 350°. Grease large shallow baking dish. Combine water and milk and heat to simmer. Add: Cornmeal, salt, sugar and butter. Stir over medium heat until the mixture is thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.Beat eggs with baking powder until very light and fluffy then add them to the cornmeal mixture. Mix well. Pour into the prepared dish and bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes. Serve hot as a side dish.
