Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- eggs, separated - 6 item
- cold water - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1 tsp
- orange rind, if desired - 1 tsp
How to make sponge cake:
In a large mixing bowl, beat egg yolks and water. Mix in sugar gradually. Add flavorings, orange rind and salt. Sift flour and baking powder, add in three parts to egg mixture. In another (glass) bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Gradually fold egg whites into egg yolk mixture. Pour into ungreased tube pan.
