Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 1 c
- water - 1 gal
- cooking oil - 1/2 c
- chopped onion - 1 c
- black pepper - 3 Tbsp
- split peas - 1/2 lb
- beef base - 2 Tbsp
- carrot, peeled and shredded - 1 item
How to make split pea soup:
Rinse split peas and add to the gallon of water the salt, the pepper, the onions and the beef base. Let boil until peas are done. Mix the flour and the cooking oil to a smooth texture and add gradually to the soup mixture until there is a smooth texture, not too thick. Let cook over a low fire for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly.A delicious before meal treat for the whole family. Add the chopped carrots last as a garnish and stir. Serves 15 to 20 people.
