Ingredients/Components
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- chopped celery - 1/2 c
- chopped carrots - 1/2 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- split peas - 1/2 lb
- water to cover - 1 item
- ham bone or chopped ham - 1 item
How to make split pea soup:
Soak peas overnight. Combine peas, celery, onions, carrots and ham. Cover ingredients with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover with lid and simmer until vegetables are tender. Water may be added if soup becomes too thick.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Soups & stews, 3 steps or less.
