Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 16 oz
  • water - 3 qt
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 1/2
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • thinly sliced carrots
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • chicken bouillon cubes - 2 item
  • large onion - 1 item
  • small ham shank - 1 item

How to make split pea soup:

In large pot, combine peas, water, ham, onion, chicken bouillon and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours. Remove ham shank and trim meat from bone. Return meat to pot. Stir in carrots and celery. Simmer, uncovered, 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until desired thickness.
