Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 16 oz
- water - 3 qt
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 1/2
- chopped celery - 1 c
- bay leaf - 1 item
- thinly sliced carrots
- oregano - 1/2 tsp
- chicken bouillon cubes - 2 item
- large onion - 1 item
- small ham shank - 1 item
How to make split pea soup:
In large pot, combine peas, water, ham, onion, chicken bouillon and seasonings. Simmer, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours. Remove ham shank and trim meat from bone. Return meat to pot. Stir in carrots and celery. Simmer, uncovered, 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until desired thickness.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Soups & stews, 3 steps or less.
