Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- cold water - 3 qt
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- onion, diced - 1 item
- diced celery - 1/2 c
- cloves garlic, crushed - 2 item
- split peas - 2 c
- "Sweet Morsel" ham small - 1 item
- carrots, diced neatly - 3 item
How to make split pea soup:
Wash and sort peas. Soak in cold water overnight. Drain. Place in soup kettle with onion, celery, garlic and cold water. Cover. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer about 4 hours. When meat is tender, remove and cool. Skim fat from soup. Add carrots, seasonings and diced ham. Cook until carrots are done. If soup is too thick, thin with a little water or chicken broth.
