Ingredients/Components
- chopped celery - 1 c
- chopped onions - 1 c
- chopped carrots - 1 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 1 tsp
- split peas, soaked overnight, covered with water, then drained - 1 lb
- smoked butt, cooked according to directions with 2 qt - 1 (2
- diced or chopped potatoes - 1 c
How to make split pea soup:
Remove butt; add peas and 1 quart water. Cover and simmer about 1 1/2 hours. Cut butt in pieces; add to soup with celery, carrots and parsley. Cook, uncovered, approximately 1/2 hour. Add potatoes; cook until potatoes are cooked.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Soups & stews, 3 steps or less.
