Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 1 lb
  • water - 2 qt
  • meaty ham bone - 1 item
  • sliced onions
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic salt - 1/4 tsp
  • marjoram - 1/4 tsp
  • diced celery - 1 c
  • sliced carrots - 1 c
  • parsley flakes - 1 tsp

How to make split pea soup:

Cover peas with water and soak overnight. Drain. Add the 2 quarts of water, ham bone, onions and seasonings. Bring to boiling. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 2 hours. Stir occasionally. Remove bone and cut off meat. Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients. Cool slowly for 45 minutes. Salt to taste. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
