Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 1 lb
- water - 2 qt
- meaty ham bone - 1 item
- sliced onions
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- garlic salt - 1/4 tsp
- marjoram - 1/4 tsp
- diced celery - 1 c
- sliced carrots - 1 c
- parsley flakes - 1 tsp
How to make split pea soup:
Cover peas with water and soak overnight. Drain. Add the 2 quarts of water, ham bone, onions and seasonings. Bring to boiling. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 2 hours. Stir occasionally. Remove bone and cut off meat. Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients. Cool slowly for 45 minutes. Salt to taste.
