Spice cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- confectioners sugar - 1 item
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- ginger - 1/4 tsp
- butter or margarine, softened - 3/4 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- light molasses - 1/4 c
- allspice - 1/2 tsp
- sifted all-purpose flour sift before measuring
How to make spice cookies:
Sift flour with baking soda, cloves, allspice, cinnamon and ginger on sheet of waxed paper. In medium bowl with electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and egg until light and fluffy. With wooden spoon, beat in flour mixture alternately with molasses. Beat well after each addition. Refrigerate dough, covered, 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375°. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Shape dough into 1/2-inch balls. Roll in confectioners sugar. Place on cookie sheet 1-inch apart. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to rack. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar while still warm.
