Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• eggs - 3 item
• brown sugar - 3/4 c
• evaporated milk
• shortening - 2/3 c
• self-rising flour
• each: cloves and nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
• each: cinnamon and ground allspice - 3/4 tsp

How to make spice cake:

Beat all ingredients together in a large bowl on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high speed for 3 minutes. Bake at 350° in long pan for 45 minutes, in round 9-inch pan for 35 to 40 minutes or in an 8-inch pan for 40 to 45 minutes. Top with caramel icing.
