  • chili powder - 2 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 item
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • onion, chopped - 1/2 item
  • cooked rice - 4 c

How to make spanish rice:

This is also very good with meat. If you want to, add 1 pound cooked hamburger to the dish.

To make 4 cups cooked rice, add 2 cups raw rice to 4 cups boiling water. Stir the rice; reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. Cook for 20 minutes. While the rice is cooking, brown the onion in a small dab of butter. If you are going to add meat, the onion can be browned along with it. After the meat is cooked, drain all the fat. In a big pot, stir together the rice, onion (meat if you are using it), tomato sauce, chili powder, salt and pepper. Heat it on medium low for about 10 to 15 minutes. You can add another 1/2 can tomato sauce to make it moister. Serve and enjoy!
