Spaghetti pie



  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/3 c
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • dried oregano, crushed - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • cottage cheese - 1 c
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 c
  • spaghetti - 6 oz
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • ground beef or pork sausage - 1 lb

How to make spaghetti pie:

Cook spaghetti according to directions. Drain. (Makes about 3 cups spaghetti.) Stir butter or margarine into hot spaghetti. Stir in Parmesan cheese and eggs. Form spaghetti mixture into a "crust" in buttered 10-inch pie plate. Spread cottage cheese over bottom of spaghetti crust. In skillet, cook beef or pork sausage, onion and green pepper until vegetables are tender and meat is browned. Drain off fat. Stir undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic salt in; heat through. Turn meat mixture into spaghetti crust and bake at 350° for twenty minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top and bake 5 minutes longer. Serves 6.
