  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • melted butter - 1 Tbsp
  • large eggs - 2 item
  • pecan halves
  • dark Karo syrup - 1 c
  • unbaked 9-inch pie shell - 1 item

How to make southern pecan pie:

Beat together sugar, syrup, salt, flour and eggs. Add vanilla, butter and pecans. Pour into unbaked pie shell. (Turn pecan halves, rounded side up.) Bake at 300° for about 1 hour, until filling is set. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
