- Crisco - 4 Tbsp
- meal
How to make southern cornbread:
Hand mix meal and egg. Add buttermilk until thin consistency. Put Crisco and 1 pinch of meal in a skillet. Cook in oven at 450° until Crisco melts and meal turns a light golden brown. Pour 1/2 cup of melted Crisco into cornbread mixture. Hand mix. Pour into skillet of melted Crisco. Cook mixture at 450° until dark golden brown.Recipe categories: Breads, American, Southern u.s..
